Jessica van der Hagen, FNP-C
Family Medicine
Jessie worked as a certified nurse’s assistant throughout high school and college while studying Occupational Therapy at the College of St. Scholastica. One day, she ventured past the nursing department – many of her friends were in the nursing program, and she always thought they were a bit crazy for their career choice. She suddenly realized that she was meant to be a nurse, so she switched majors that day; it was truly a turning point in her life.
Caring for a variety of people in all generations is something she finds great joy in Family Medicine. She grew up in the area and has known many of her patients for a number of years. They trust and come to see her for their healthcare needs, and Jessica is very honored by this. As a small community, she is glad to be a part of a medical
team that is willing to bring in specialists or refer patients to the best person to help them. It is small town care that can provide big city benefits.
She became a Registered Nurse and worked at a rural hospital before returning to the College of St. Scholastica for her Masters of Arts in Nursing. She now works as a Family Nurse Practitioner and loves it. Jessica grew up in Villard and found it only natural to live and raise her family there. She has always enjoyed the small town, community atmosphere, and there could not be a better fit for her.
During her years in college, she fell in love with traveling the world. She has spent time in Africa and all over Europe — Germany, Amsterdam and Whales to name a few. With only a backpack and a good pair of shoes, Jessica loved traveling abroad as well as the US countryside. Things have changed some since marriage and her three children were born. She spends her time with family, gardening, racing, motorcycling, reading, and walking.
