Clinic Biller

The Clinic Biller position is largely responsible for any billing of a third party for any medical services received in any of four clinics operated by Glacial Ridge Health System. The majority of this work is with Medicare and Medicare Advantage insurance carriers. This requires effective use of information technology resources, and often depends on the accuracy of the system set up in patient accounting and billing clearinghouse software applications. The position requires technical knowledge in these areas, as well as in medical clinic coding and billing.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Produce, edit, file, and process 1500 and UB Clinic claims to insurance carriers. Produce and mail bills when necessary.
  • File Medicare supplemental claims.

  • Obtain EOB’s to send Medicaid crossover claims.
  • Maintain and update insurance information in the patient accounting system, including checking eligibility where necessary.
  • Answer billing questions and explain benefits and coverage to patients when necessary.
  • Follow-up on insurance claims according to denial management program’s protocol.
  • Follow up delinquent accounts according to monthly accounts receivable reports.
  • Must participate in business office team meetings.
  • Obtain EOB’s to send Medicaid crossover claims.

Qualifications

  • Hospital or Medical Clinic Billing experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, and ICD codes and billing practices.
  • Must be friendly, courteous, responsible, and well-groomed.

  • Must be proficient in basic business software applications.
  • Ability to read and communicate effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal skills.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Decision-making and problem-solving.
  • Team building.
