Glacial Ridge Health System welcomes Dr. Scott Maanum to the family medicine care team in Glenwood.
Dr. Maanum provides complete care for patients of all ages—from babies to elders. He enjoys many aspects of family medicine, such as being able to provide a continuity of care, and the promotion of wellness and preventive care.
“Family medicine allows for relationship building and care over a person’s lifespan,” said Dr. Maanum. “I want my practice to be personal—focused on helping people stay healthy and be proactive in choosing ways to maintain good habits.”
Since Dr. Maanum began his medical training by focusing on a general surgery program, it provided him in-depth experience in digestive tract procedures—GI endoscopy, colonoscopy, and upper endoscopy. He is also highly skilled in assisting patients who need care for skin issues or more-extensive dermatological treatment. From biopsies to cryosurgery, electro-surgery, and skin cancers, Dr. Maanum has treated many different types of skin conditions and diseases.
He also has a special interest in caring for those with pediatric and adult diabetes and has volunteered for several years as a physician at Iowa’s Camp for Kids with Diabetes.
Dr. Maanum earned his bachelor of arts degree from Concordia College and his graduate degree as a Doctor of Medicine from the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences. He completed his internship at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in general surgery, followed by a residency in family medicine. Dr. Maanum worked as a family medicine physician in northern Minnesota for two years and in Iowa for six years prior to joining GRHS in October.
Dr. Maanum is happy to be in Glenwood, closer to extended family. He especially enjoys spending time with his wife and children—fishing, bow-hunting, hiking, camping, biking, playing tennis and basketball, and playing music.
