Patient comfort and care is our main concern, and rest is an important part of patient hospital treatment. We have established visiting hours so our patients can receive the best care possible. Visiting hours vary by patient and reason for hospitalization. These are our preferred visiting hours:

Medical Surgical Units 11a-8:30p

  • Immediate family of patients going to surgery or critically ill patients may visit earlier.

Pediatrics 11a-8:30p

  • Parents are welcome anytime. For patient safety, depending on the illness or injury, children under 12 may only visit with permission from the patient’s nurse.

Maternity / Obstetrics 1p-4p and 7p-8:30p

  • Fathers are welcome anytime.
  • In order to promote the well-being of the mothers and baby, please refrain from visiting if you are ill. Wash your hands in a public restroom before and after visiting mother and baby.
  • DO NOT sit on the bed.

While an important part of the healing process is also visiting with family and friends, our patients may request limitations on their visiting hours or number of visitors. We appreciate your understanding if a nurse informs you of a limited visitation request by the patient.

Visitors After Hours

Visitors arriving after 7p will need to use the Emergency entrance on the North side. The entrance doors on the East side will be locked; there is no call button at the main entrance.

If the interior doors are locked at the Emergency entrance, visitors will need to press the call button inside the entry for assistance and someone will meet them there. Signage is posted for help.

Clergy

For privacy of all patients, visits with members of the clergy can be arranged at the patient’s request. Patients may arrange their visit prior to admission, or they may request their family, the admissions personnel or nursing staff contact their clergy.

Visitor Meals / Vending

The Common Ground Café is located in the lower level of the hospital near Physical Therapy and can be accessed via the elevator or stairs at the Southeast corner of the campus near the main entrance. Standard meal times are:

  • Breakfast – 7:30-10a
  • Lunch – 11:45a-1p
  • Dinner – 5:20-6:30p

Vending machines are located in the Emergency waiting room and the hospital waiting room near the main entrance.

Complimentary coffee, tea, and hot chocolate is available for visitors at the coffee counters located near the main entrance and in the hospital and emergency / outreach waiting areas.

Mail / E-Cards / Flowers / Gifts

All mail, flowers, e-cards, and gifts addressed to a patient will be brought to their room by hospital staff.

The hospital mailing address for patients is:

Patient Name
Glacial Ridge Hospital
10 Fourth Ave SE
Glenwood, MN 56334

Any items received for patients after their discharge will be forwarded to their address. Any letters to be mailed out may be given to a member of the nursing staff who will see that they are mailed from the Business Office.

Due to allergies of some individuals, ONLY latex free balloons are allowed in the facility. We are virtually latex free and use latex free products as much as possible.

Caring Bridge

CaringBridge® is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit web service that connects family and friends during a critical illness, treatment or recovery. A CaringBridge site is personal, private and available 24/7. It helps ease the burden of keeping family and friends informed. Patients and caregivers draw strength from loved ones’ messages of support. Create, update, or visit a patient’s site at www.caringbridge.org.

Parking

There is designated Visitor Parking on the South side of campus. If the Visitor Parking area is full, visitors are asked to park on the streets and avenues adjacent to the campus—parking can generally be found within one block of campus.

Please note that parking spaces on campus are designated for Patient Parking Only Monday-Friday 7a to 6p. These lots are on the East side (by the main entrance) and on the North side (near the Emergency entrance).

In the evenings after 6p and on weekends and major holidays, visitors may park in the designated Patient Parking lots on campus.

DO NOT PARK in the designated Employee Parking lot in the NE corner of the campus at any time. This lot doubles as an emergency helicopter landing area and may need to be cleared at a moment’s notice. Any cars remaining are towed at owner’s expense.
