Amy Brandt, DMP

Amy’s passion for medicine began as a young girl, taking care of animals on a farm near Sauk Centre. Becoming an EMT in college cemented her decision to pursue a medical career.

Amy graduated from the University of Minnesota Morris with a double major in sociology and human services followed by a bachelors in nursing from Minnesota State University Moorhead. Her first job as an RN was at Glacial Ridge Hospital. After working as a nurse for 14 years, Amy went on to earn a doctorate in nursing practice from Creighton University in Omaha, NE with a Family Nurse Practitioner specialty. She enjoys caring for patients of all ages and backgrounds. Her special medical interests include orthopedics, pediatrics, and cardiovascular health.

During her residency as a Certified Nurse Practitioner at Glenwood Medical Center, Amy immediately felt at home and knew this is where she wanted to practice medicine. The continuous expansion of the facility, as well as the atmosphere of warmth and kindness from staff, impressed her the most. Many co-workers even remembered her from when she was an RN and welcomed her back as if she had never left. The positive, supportive, teamwork-based environment at GRHS is the exact work environment she was seeking. Amy joined the provider team at GRHS in May 2018.

She takes a holistic and integrative approach to healthcare. Her primary goal is to help patients prevent illness and disease, and takes a patient-centered approach when determining a treatment plan. Amy takes into account the full range of physical, emotional, mental, social, spiritual, and environmental influences that affect each person’s health.

Amy and her husband live in Morris with their two sons. During leisure time, she enjoys Taekwondo, biking, traveling, singing, learning to play guitar, and spending time with her family.
