Having a great relationship with his primary care doctor inspired Dr. Hacker to pursue the same career. He enjoys many aspects of family medicine, but values building relationships with patients by listening and getting to know them, their medical history, and understanding what’s most important to them. Dr. Hacker empowers patients to be involved in their treatment plans. He believes in providing thorough information on their condition or concern, and explaining their options so they can ask questions and make informed decisions.
A native of Alexandria, MN, he attended North Dakota State University and graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s in chemistry. Dr. Hacker completed his doctorate at the University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis followed by a family medicine residency in St. Cloud, MN. There he had multiple responsibilities including patient care in obstetrics, inpatient, and outpatient settings, along with several leadership roles.
Dr. Hacker is happy to be back in the area – closer to extended family and friends. He chose to establish his family medicine practice at Glacial Ridge Health System for the welcoming culture and the unique opportunity to develop the kind of practice that aligns with his medical interests. These include the full spectrum of family medicine, plus obstetrics with cesarean deliveries, emergency care, and inpatient medicine. Other interests include sports medicine and dermatology. Dr. Hacker felt fortunate to join a team of talented, established providers at GRHS in August 2022. Working near the shores of beautiful Lake Minnewaska each day is a plus.
To relax, he prioritizes spending time outdoors and on the lake with his wife Kassy and two sons. Other activities Dr. Hacker enjoys are playing guitar, weightlifting, fishing, hunting, and trying new foods.
