Dr. Michael Holte has always enjoyed science, solving problems, and working with people. Melding the three interests together perfectly aligned for a career in medicine. He knew he could make a tremendous impact on others’ lives.
He graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s in science from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks where he also earned a doctor of medicine and graduated with honors. While in medical school, his wife – an orthopedic nurse – encouraged him to pursue orthopedics because the specialty would allow him to do what drives him – work with people of all ages and create solutions to make them better with immediate changes. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and Fellow of the American Association of Orthopedic Surgeons.
Dr. Holte completed a five-year residency in orthopedic surgery at the Mayo Clinic School of Medicine, serving as the chief resident his final year. Following residency, Dr. Holte worked in Aberdeen, SD for 14 years, then moved to Central MN in 2005 and built a successful practice. With 28 years of experience, Dr. Holte joined Glacial Ridge Health System in April 2018 to provide full-time orthopedic care.
