How to See Results Quicker

I hear it all the time; some of us are just not satisfied with our weight, size, strength, or body composition. We set goals to lose weight and get healthier, but we hardly see any results and especially not when we would like to see them. We criticize ourselves, poking at ourselves in the mirror, calling ourselves weak, fat, or unattractive.

I’m not going to sit here and pretend I know your story or your struggle. We are all on a different journey and fighting different giants in our lives, but what I can do is give you a tool that could be a solution to the results you have been failing to see. It could be the hardest thing you have ever done, but the solution is to LOVE YOURSELF.

Go back and read that again so it settles in. Love yourself, just as you are, right where you’re at.

Think of yourself positivelyYou may be going through your head with a grocery list of all your flaws as to why you can’t love yourself, and my response first would be “Quit that,” and second would be to find a way to love Every-Single-One of your flaws. Own them; they are part of you.

Now loving yourself is not a ticket to settling or no longer trying to get healthier or set goals. On the contrary, it’s telling yourself – I am worth it and I want to change for me. I read a quote recently that said, “It wasn’t until I accepted myself just as I was that I was free to change.” If we don’t love ourselves it doesn’t matter what goals we set or reach, we will never be good enough for ourselves. We could be making mountains of improvement and still be poking at ourselves in the mirror.

If this speaks to you, I would ask you to do 3 things:

  1. Stop all negative self-talk – no calling yourself fat or looking at yourself in the mirror with disgust.
  2. Tell yourself 5 things you love about yourself every day, both physical features and character traits.
  3. Set a realistic goal for yourself to become healthier; because you love yourself you want to treat your body well.

You are capable of accomplishing so much right where you are at regardless of any flaw you feel is holding you back. Believe that you are worth it and you will see results come quicker than you ever imagined.
