Dr. Ekaterina Kostioukhina (kos-tyoo-KEEN-a) is a board-certified internal medicine physician who cares for patients in both the hospital and the clinic. She earned her medical degree from the University of Miami and completed her internal medicine residency through the University of Miami and JFK Medical Center program in Florida. She also holds a master’s degree in psychology from Harvard, which shapes the way she understands and cares for the whole person.
Dr. Kostioukhina practices patient-centered medicine, taking time to listen and to build care plans with her patients that fit their goals and daily lives. In addition to English, she speaks fluent Spanish and Russian.
Over the past 10 years, Dr. Kostioukhina has cared for patients in hospitals across the country, including many rural and underserved communities in Missouri, Wyoming, and Massachusetts, and most recently in New Zealand. That experience gave her a deep appreciation for rural medicine and for the close relationships between patients and their care teams that smaller communities make possible. She has also volunteered on medical mission trips and disaster relief efforts, from remote villages in Nepal to hurricane recovery in the Bahamas.
The combination of inpatient and outpatient care, the practice itself, and the community made Glacial Ridge an easy choice. She was drawn to GRHS because it remains an independent health system committed to offering a broad range of care, and to the kind of personal, relationship-based medicine she values most.
Dr. Kostioukhina joined the GRHS care team in June 2026 in a locum role, a path that has taken her to rural hospitals across the country. She is glad to be in Glenwood, and her time here may grow into something longer.
Outside of her medical practice, Dr. Kostioukhina is a lifelong explorer and a member of the Australia and New Zealand chapter of The Explorers Club. She is a certified scuba diver, sailor, and student pilot, pursuing research in aerospace and extreme-environment medicine. She also paints, using art to capture the human side of medicine. Dr. Kostioukhina is married and has two children.
