Laboratory

medical staffGlacial Ridge Health System maintains a state-of-the-art, full-service laboratory staffed by registered lab professionals who perform clinical analysis on blood and bodily fluids. These tests generate much of the clinical data physicians use to make informed decisions when diagnosing and treating our patients. Our lab technologists and technicians are highly experienced and specially trained to work with patients of all ages.

Our laboratory is fully accredited with CLIA certification and supervised by a board-certified anatomic and clinical pathologist. We conduct various analyses in urinalysis, bacteriology, transfusion services, hematology, chemistry, immunology, coagulation, toxicology, and blood gases. We take pride in caring for our patients, so they feel comfortable and experience minimal discomfort during sample collection.

Our on-site laboratory offers both hospital inpatient and outpatient services, and we accept orders from community and out-of-town providers. All test results are confidential, and most testing is performed daily, with results available to your doctor the same day.

Physician-ordered laboratory tests are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Specimen collection, drop off, and testing are available through GRHS Outpatient Services from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Our laboratory services encompass the entire patient care continuum throughout the health system—from outpatient services to hospital, nursing home, and homecare visits.

Direct Lab Access (DLA)

Direct Laboratory Access (DLA) is a consumer-directed laboratory testing facility. Certain lab tests are available without a physician’s order. It is offered for those wanting to further monitor lab values between regular health care provider visits.

DLA may be for those whose health insurance plans do not cover certain wellness, screening, or health maintenance tests. If insurance or Medicare coverage does NOT pay for a screening test or if individuals want to test for a personal condition, DLA may offer that option. DLA results are NOT sent to healthcare providers and they do NOT become part of medical records. People may wait for their results (please allow up to 2 hours), pick them up, or have them mailed. All DLA tests must be paid for at the time of service with cash, check, or credit card.

This service is not a substitute for ongoing healthcare assessment with a healthcare provider.

Download the printable DLA Patient Guide and Test Menu (PDF).

DLA testing is available through GRHS Outpatient Services from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. You do not need to stop at the hospital or outreach reception desks. Go directly to the laboratory to register and select the test(s) you want to be performed from the DLA test menu (shown below). You may print the test order form (PDF) and bring it with you or complete one on-site.
