We look forward to Dr. Bausman joining our team and caring for patients at Glenwood Medical Center beginning October 13. She will also begin seeing patients at Brooten Medical Center in January 2026.
Dr. Payton Bausman grew up in Hamburg, MN, where small-town values and a strong sense of community shaped her early years. She always hoped to practice medicine in a similar place.
As a young girl, she dreamed of becoming a doctor. That desire was strengthened through volunteering in her local emergency room during high school and working as a CNA in college. It was after observing her first delivery during medical school that she discovered a passion for obstetrics.
Dr. Bausman earned her undergraduate degree in biology from Luther College in Iowa, followed by medical school and her family medicine residency at the University of Minnesota in Duluth. She advanced her training with a year-long fellowship in obstetrics to further strengthen her skills in OB care.
She is especially interested in obstetrics, women’s health, preventive care, and pediatrics. Dr. Bausman strives to be a good listener and to meet patients where they are. Understanding their goals is key to creating care plans that fit their lives.
She was drawn to Glacial Ridge Health System for its reputation as a strong, independent rural health system, but what stood out most was the kindness she felt from the team. The values of heartfelt care deeply resonated with her own.
Dr. Bausman and her husband, Nathan, chose Glenwood for its welcoming community, outdoor recreation, and proximity to their families. Once they visited, it just felt like home. Outside of work, she enjoys running, hiking, golfing, cross-country skiing, lake time, and relaxing with a good Hallmark movie. They share their home with a golden retriever, Teddie.
