Paramedic – Emergency Department

Glacial Ridge Hospital is hiring a full-time Paramedic for the Emergency Department (ED). Paramedics play a crucial role in the healthcare system by providing immediate medical care to patients in critical conditions. Working within the fast-paced environment of an emergency department, ED Paramedics assess, stabilize, and provide initial treatment to patients with various medical emergencies. They work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure patients receive timely and appropriate care.

  • Provide emergency medical care to patients in the emergency department in accordance with written protocols and/or orders received.
  • Provide advanced life support during interfacility transfers for ill and injured persons at the level of current certification/licensure and education, adhering to the protocols of the service and applicable federal, state and local laws, regulations, and statutes.
  • Communicate tactfully, professionally, and sensitively to the patient(s), family, bystanders, volunteers, and other professionals within the department. Promote an environment of teamwork with fellow crew and various outside agencies which ambulance personnel work with.
  • When on-call, respond to department callbacks within 30 minutes.
  • Assist with Emergency Department restocking, and equipment checks.
  • Collect and record patient data, assessment, and treatments provided accurately and timely on the medical record and adhere to GRHS policy and HIPAA requirements regarding patients’ right to privacy.
  • Maintain licensure and skills competence by completing continuing education and attending departmental meetings as scheduled.
  • Attends required training as delineated by federal, state, and local laws and statutes (e.g., annual infection control training, Haz-Mat training, etc.)
  • Provide education (ACLS, PALS, etc.) to staff as certified and perform work related to public relations as required (e.g., school demonstrations, standbys at local events, interagency drills, etc.).
  • 5 years’ experience in EMS field preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have at least a high school diploma.
  • Current National Registry certification is encouraged.
  • Current MN certification.
  • Current certifications in Healthcare Provider CPR, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) and Basic Trauma Life Support (BTLS) or Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS).
  • Current, non-suspended or revoked, MN driver’s license and have an insurable driving record.
  • Must adhere to HIPAA confidentiality standards.
  • Must adhere to the Keys to Heartfelt Care.
  • Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position.
