The complexity of biomedical sciences always intrigued Dr. Huggins’ intellectual curiosity. Building relationships with patients from all walks of life and the opportunity to assist people who may be confused or scared as they struggle with illnesses attracted her to the medical field.
Dr. Huggins was mostly raised in neighboring Oshkosh, WI, and attended medical school at the University of South Carolina, the state where she was born. She completed her residency at Fort Collins Family Medicine program in Colorado. Dr. Huggins’ special medical interests include obstetrics with cesarean section and women’s health.
Her approach to medicine can best be described as patient-centered. She enjoys educating patients and collaborating with them as a team. She believes patients are more likely to adhere to their care plan when they are involved in the decision-making process.
Dr. Huggins was attracted to Glacial Ridge Health System because it is an established and thriving medical center. Since she grew up in the Midwest, prospects of enjoying summers by the lake in a relaxed pace of life seemed just the right place to settle in and grow as a family.
Her husband is a retired Army veteran. He is a stay-at-home dad and has an interest in artistic welding. Dr. Huggins loves playing with their three children and their dogs. She also enjoys reading, cooking, painting, and sewing.
