Hospital-Affiliated Optometrist – Full-Time or Part-Time Opportunity

Position Overview

Glacial Ridge Health System seeks a Doctor of Optometry to join our hospital-affiliated eye care practice in Glenwood, Minnesota. This position offers clinical autonomy with the resources and support of hospital affiliation when needed. We’re hiring for a Monday–Friday position or a part-time role with a flexible 3-4 day workweek.

As an independent, nonprofit hospital with local governance, we provide exceptional healthcare without corporate oversight. Join an experienced optometrist at our modern Glenwood Family Eye Center, equipped with advanced diagnostic technology, and provide full-scope optometry for all ages.

Modern Clinical Environment:

• Advanced diagnostic technology: OCT, visual fields, widefield imaging.

• On-site optical dispensary with experienced opticians.

Clinical Care

• Comprehensive eye examinations.
• Diagnose and manage ocular diseases: glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and dry eye.
• Prescribe corrective lenses (eyeglasses and contact lenses).
• Provide ER consultation upon request from emergency department clinicians.
• Backup coverage for ophthalmology patients at the eye center as needed.
• Coordinate with visiting Ophthalmologist and hospital physicians when appropriate.
• Emergency eye care and urgent consultations.
• Patient education on eye health and disease prevention.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Optometry (OD) from an ACOE-accredited institution.
• Minnesota optometry license or eligibility.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Collaborative approach to patient care.
• Interest in hospital-affiliated practice
• Experience in medical optometry and disease management preferred.
• Familiarity with ER consultation or emergency eye care preferred.

Schedule
