Professional headshot of a womanKristi Winter, CNP, provides primary care for patients of all ages at Starbuck Medical Center. She offers a full spectrum of family medicine services, from infants to older adults, including preventive care, chronic disease management, DOT exams, and Walk-In Care for minor injuries and unexpected illnesses.

Kristi began her healthcare career at 16 as a certified nursing assistant in long-term care. That experience shaped her passion for caregiving and supporting others’ health, which continues today as she provides medical care for residents in local nursing homes.

She earned her associate degree at MN West Community and Technical College in Worthington and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the College of St. Scholastica. After more than 10 years of experience in hospital and homecare settings, Kristi wanted to be more directly involved in promoting health and preventing disease. She earned her master’s degree at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks to become a Certified Nurse Practitioner.

Raised in Alexandria, Kristi was drawn to the strong sense of community in Starbuck and the welcoming team at Glacial Ridge. She felt it was the right place to put down roots and raise her daughter. She joined the health system in 2023 and enjoys providing local, personalized care to families in the area. Building relationships and helping people stay healthy—or feel better when they’re not—is what she finds most rewarding about her role in family medicine.

Outside of work, Kristi enjoys spending time at the lake with her daughter, especially during the summer at her parents’ home in Alexandria. She has a lifelong love of volleyball, having played in both high school and college. She also enjoys traveling and attending country music concerts.
