Peter brings a wealth of diverse experiences to his role as a Physician Assistant in the ER. He has over 25 years of experience as a PA in family medicine, trauma-neuro ICU in a Level 1 trauma center, and in metro and rural emergency departments, including part-time at Glacial Ridge. Peter returned to GRHS full-time in September 2024.
When he was growing up, Peter’s family lived in several cities across Minnesota and even Winnipeg, Canada. He also spent a year in France following high school. Through his experience with other cultures, Peter has developed a greater appreciation for individuals with different backgrounds and beliefs.
His journey into the medical field began after his family witnessed a severe traffic accident. This pivotal moment led him to become an EMT while earning his bachelor’s degree at the University of Minnesota–Morris. These experiences fueled his desire to do more. Peter completed a Certificate in Intensive Care Paramedic from Century College in White Bear Lake and worked as a paramedic in both rural and busy urban areas. He obtained a Certificate in Physician Assistant Studies from Augsburg University in Minneapolis and earned his Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Nebraska. Peter’s medical interests include point-of-care ultrasound, resuscitation, trauma and critical care, prehospital care, and disaster medicine.
Peter was attracted to GRHS for its progressive medical staff, well-equipped and maintained facility, and first-name basis among staff. He feels privileged to provide emergency medicine at GRHS and is committed to delivering personal, heartfelt care to the community.
Peter holds many awards and recognitions for his dedication to medical care and his profession, from the MN Academy of Physician Assistants, the American Academy of Physician Assistants, the Society of Emergency Medicine Physician Assistants, the Society of Critical Care Medicine, and the American College of Critical Care.
Outside of work, he likes spending time with his wife and family. He stays active and enjoys reading and spending time outdoors.
