Ricardo Valle, M.D.

professional picture of Puerto Rican manDr. Valle learned about the medical field at an early age having both parents as physicians. Passionate about playing sports and learning Taekwondo while growing up in Puerto Rico, he felt a natural gravitation toward sports medicine. What he enjoys most about being an orthopedic physician is that he can take care of the whole community – from weekend warriors and high school students to grandmas and grandpas.

While he is experienced in treating all orthopedic concerns, Dr. Valle has advanced training in hip, shoulder, and knee arthroscopy. He expertly performs hip, knee, and shoulder total joint replacements.

Dr. Valle attained his bachelor’s degree from the University of Puerto Rico followed by his doctorate degree at the Ponce School of Medicine in Puerto Rico. He completed his Orthopedic Surgery residency at the Albany Medical College in Albany, New York and a Fellowship in Sports Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.

During his fellowship training, he was a team physician for the Houston Texans, Houston Astros, Houston Rockets and the Houston Dynamo as well the University of Houston football and basketball teams. Living in North Carolina and working on the east coast for the past nine years, he has enjoyed being a team physician for a local high school and the Frederick Keys – the minor league baseball team for the Baltimore Orioles.

Dr. Valle takes time with patients to really listen, getting to know them and what treatment options may be best for each individual. His goal is to help each person get back to where they were before the injury happened or pain began.

Dr. Valle is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and member of both the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine.  He is fluent in both English and Spanish. In March 2020, Dr. Valle began caring for patients at Glacial Ridge Health System in Glenwood.
