The upcoming Harvest Ball fundraiser, hosted by the Auxiliary of Glacial Ridge Health System, is an opportunity to connect with friends and neighbors while supporting a cause that could one day save a life. Proceeds from the event will go toward the Auxiliary’s newest pledge: a TE X Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) machine for the GRHS Emergency Department.

Answers in Seconds, Not Hours

In an emergency, time is everything. A point-of-care ultrasound allows GRHS’s emergency care team, who are already trained and credentialed to use the technology, to look inside the body and get answers within moments, right at the patient’s bedside. The TE X can help identify life-threatening conditions such as internal bleeding, cardiac activity during cardiac arrest, respiratory conditions, vascular issues like an abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA), and abdominal concerns such as gallstones. Rather than waiting on a formal imaging appointment, physicians can see what’s happening in real time and start treatment sooner.

Your Support Makes the Difference

GRHS already relies on point-of-care ultrasound in the Emergency Department. With only one machine on hand, it isn’t always free when it’s needed most, whether a surgeon needs it in the OR or the ER has two critical patients at once. The Auxiliary has pledged $50,000 over two years to bring a second TE X machine to GRHS; this one is equipped with echocardiogram capabilities. This new feature that will further expand what providers can see at the bedside. Every ticket, auction bid, and donation moves the community closer to that goal. Support can take many forms: attending the Harvest Ball, donating an auction item, or making a direct financial gift. Contributions are tax-deductible, and donors are recognized.

Event Details

The 22nd annual Harvest Ball is set for Friday, October 9, at Lakeside Ballroom. This year’s Tropical Paradise theme brings lush greenery and twinkling lights for an island-elegant evening, complete with a delicious dinner, live and silent auctions, games of chance, and music and dancing with the band Mid-Flight. The Auxiliary of Glacial Ridge Health System has supported the hospital’s efforts since 1939, when Ann Bickle organized the group, the first hospital auxiliary in the state of Minnesota. Today, the Auxiliary also provides scholarships for local students pursuing careers in the medical field.
