It started with one doctor’s love of staying active. Twelve years later, the GRHS 5K Scrub Run/Walk is still going strong.

On Saturday, June 13, nearly 150 runners and walkers, ranging in age from 3 to 75, laced up their shoes and took to the beautiful shoreline of Lake Minnewaska for a morning of movement, community, and purpose.

Proceeds from the event will provide over $2,000 to Glacial Ridge Hospice and Palliative Care programs, which serve many families across our region. An additional $80 in voluntary participant donations will support mental health resources for Pope County first responders. The Scrub Run was inspired by the late Dr. Mark Johnson, who served as a physician at GRHS for 25 years.

A Note of Thanks

The event would not be possible without the generous support of community sponsors and volunteers. Glacial Ridge Health System extends sincere thanks to the following businesses and organizations for their support and donations: Glacial Ridge EMS, Pope County Sheriff’s Posse, Glenwood Police Department, Tom’s Market, Screen Prints Plus, Lakeside Ballroom, Captain’s Bar & Grill, Club of Creativity and Outdoors, Eagle Bank, Marthaler Chevrolet, American Solutions for Business, and Wandering Cup Coffee.
