We know that training is critical, and in the medical field, ongoing education and training go hand in hand. Earlier this year, the Auxiliary of Glacial Ridge Health System learned about the Emergency Department’s request for a SimMan® ALS and pledged $30,000. This high-tech simulation manikin will fulfill the unique training requirements of emergency healthcare providers.
The SimMan® ALS is a mobile and durable solution that will meet the training needs of pre-hospital and in-hospital emergency care providers, from basic assessment to advanced life-support skills. SimMan® ALS can also be used to complete the training of the American Hospital Association (AHA) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Course.
Emergency Department Manager Josh Chan is a strong proponent of education and training. He states, “We have an excellent team of emergency-trained professionals in our Emergency Department. The addition of SimMan® will enhance our patient care by providing realistic, hands-on training that will strengthen our critical care and emergency skills. It will allow our team to practice complex scenarios in a controlled environment, improving communication, teamwork, and preparedness for real-life emergencies. This advanced training will sharpen our technical abilities and boost our confidence in high-stress situations. Ensuring we can respond swiftly and effectively is our priority. Ultimately, this investment in cutting-edge technology reflects our commitment to continuously improving the care we provide, positively impacting the health and safety of our entire community.”
Minnewaska House will host the 20th Annual Harvest Ball on Saturday, October 5, 2024, as the Auxiliary raises money for this new pledge project. Note the change to a Saturday night. Vintage Fall is the theme for the evening, with an autumn-inspired menu and décor. Following the delicious pork chop dinner, Zielsdorf Auctioneers will conduct a live auction, and the silent auction and raffles will continue a short time before the band, the Blues Brothers Revue, begins playing at 8:30 pm.
Tickets for the Harvest Ball are $75 per person, and every ticket includes a $50 tax-deductible donation. Purchase tickets by Friday, September 20, at the Glacial Ridge Hospital main entrance or call Joanna Curry, Auxiliary Liaison, at 320-334-5539. If you have questions, want to purchase tickets for a table of 8 or 10, or donate an auction item, contact Joanna.
The Auxiliary of Glacial Ridge Health System has supported the hospital’s efforts since 1939 when Ann Bickle organized the group.
