Glacial Ridge Hospital Receives 5-Star Rating


Glacial_Ridge_Health_System_5_Star_Hospital_Glenwood_MinnesotaGlacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood has received a 5-star rating for patient experience from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Hospital Compare Initiative. The report released May 4, 2016 rates 3,544 U.S. hospitals in the U.S.; 168 of those received 5 stars, putting Glacial Ridge Hospital in the top 5% in the nation. The rating is based on survey data on patient experience.

Glacial Ridge Health System’s CEO Kirk Stensrud commends the staff for this achievement. Stensrud states, “The five-star rating we have received is the result of our staff’s caring and compassionate care. The staff at GRHS truly care about each individual patient and strive to not only meet but exceed their expectations.” He adds, “As an organization, we focus on making sure everyone understands what ‘heartfelt care’ means. The five-star rating from CMS is a testament to our staff’s efforts. We are all very proud of the high-quality care we provide at GRHS.”

Star Ratings make it easier for consumers to use the information on the Compare Web sites and spotlight excellence in healthcare quality. Star rankings for patient experience were first released in 2014. In 2015, Glacial Ridge Hospital received 4 stars for both reporting periods.

Data is gathered from the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers Survey that is sent to patients following discharge from their stay at Glacial Ridge Hospital. The survey consists of 32 questions. Hospital Compare rankings are comprised of 11 measures that include communication with nurses and doctors, pain management, discharge information, cleanliness of the hospital, overall hospital rating and likelihood to recommend.
