There are many important changes coming to Medicare in 2026, and these changes will affect most people on Medicare. Plans can change their costs, provider networks, and drug coverage each year—so even if you like your plan, it’s worth comparing your options.
What You Can Do During Open Enrollment (October 15–December 7)
- Join, drop, or change your Part D drug plan
- Switch Medicare Advantage plans
- Move between Medicare Advantage and Original Medicare
If you return to Original Medicare, you may need a separate Part D plan and might consider a Medigap policy.
Changes Coming to Medicare Advantage in 2026
Many Medicare Advantage plans in Minnesota will look different next year. Some insurers are dropping or shrinking plans, which means fewer choices in certain counties, and provider networks may also shift. Premiums, deductibles, and out-of-pocket limits may rise. Extra benefits (rides, grocery cards, OTC allowances) will follow tighter rules.
What to Check
- Is your clinic and hospital still in-network?
- Are your medications still covered?
- What will your 2026 costs look like?
- What specialty hospitals are in-network?
If Your Plan Is Ending
You should have received an Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) by September 2025 if your plan is being dropped. This letter explains your end date, possible replacement options, and the timeframe for choosing new coverage.
Save and read all mail from your Medicare insurer.
