22nd Annual Riding for a Cause Raised $29,663

Thanks to the dedication of local organizers, sponsors, and donors, $29,663 was raised during the 22nd Annual Riding for a Cause – Motorcycle Ride and Car Run benefitting Glacial Ridge Hospice patients and their families. The weather held and the roads were rumbling with 129 people along for the ride: 78 motorcycles with 113 riders and 7 cars with 16 people. Glacial Ridge Homecare recently purchased Minnewaska Homecare in Starbuck. For several months, Glacial Ridge Homecare Manager Tina Blair worked closely with Minnewaska Home Care staff and Horizon Public Health nurses to ensure a smooth process. Flu Vaccine Cuts Risk of Death in Half for People With Heart Failure

For people with heart failure, getting a seasonal influenza (flu) vaccine was associated with a 50 percent drop in the risk of death during flu season and a 20 percent drop in the risk of death during the rest of the year, according to research presented at the American College of Cardiology’s Annual Scientific Session.
