After surgery and a week at St. Cloud Hospital, Fran transferred to Glacial Ridge for two weeks of Swing Bed care. What she found here made a lasting impression on her recovery, from the staff who went above and beyond to the therapy that helped her regain strength.
The care I received at Glacial Ridge is nothing like I’ve ever had before. From the moment I checked in, the person at the desk, the nurses—everyone—was great. The staff were truly there for me, going out of their way to make me comfortable, and help was available instantly. The nurses checked on me often, even at night, and that was very special. Physical therapy and occupational therapy were excellent. The therapists really knew what they were doing and helped me recover.
Every meal I had was very good, and the dietary staff cared and always asked how the food was. I enjoyed spending time in the sun room with all the windows overlooking the lake, and I always had such good visits with the volunteers who stopped by.
I would recommend Glacial Ridge to everyone. It’s the place to be if you want to be taken care of.
Therapy and Expertise
Fran experienced firsthand the quality of therapy services at Glacial Ridge. With skilled therapists and a personalized approach, she was supported during her short-term rehab stay and continued to make progress through outpatient physical therapy. “Fran was open to using adaptive equipment to complete activities of daily living (ADLs) so she could return home safely by herself,” said Tammy Vig, Occupational Therapist.
Fran continues her recovery with determination. She continued to regain strength week by week in outpatient physical therapy, which was so rewarding. Now she goes for daily walks with her walker, steadily working toward the day she can return to her walking stick.
