Glacial Ridge Health System is pleased to introduce Payton Bausman, MD, family medicine with obstetrics, as the newest member of our medical staff. She will begin seeing patients at Glenwood Medical Center on October 13, 2025, and at Brooten Medical Center in January 2026.

Dr. Bausman provides comprehensive healthcare for the entire family, from preventive medicine and chronic disease management to pregnancy and pediatrics. “I chose family medicine because I enjoy building lasting relationships with people of all ages,” she explained. “After watching my first delivery during medical school, I also discovered a passion for obstetrics.”

Raised in Hamburg, Minnesota, a rural town southwest of the Twin Cities, she cherished the close-knit community and always hoped to return to a similar place when her training was complete. Early volunteer work in her local emergency room and experience as a CNA during college solidified her dream of becoming a doctor.

Her academic path began with an undergraduate degree in biology from Luther College in Iowa. She went on to attend medical school and complete her family medicine residency at the University of Minnesota in Duluth, followed by a one-year fellowship in obstetrics.

When considering where to practice, Dr. Bausman said, “I was initially interested in Glacial Ridge because it is a strong, independent rural health system,” Dr. Bausman said. “The warmth and kindness I felt during my interview strongly influenced my desire to join the team, and the practice of Heartfelt Care aligns with my values.”

She added, “Looking for a community in between my husband’s and my family, Glenwood just felt like home. We were also drawn to the area for its recreation opportunities and the active, engaged community.”
