Following a hospital stay for a stroke, Alyce F. of Appleton, MN, came to Glacial Ridge to focus on recovery surrounded by a team ready to help her regain strength.
Where to start? The relaxing views of the lake. The helpful staff who talked with me when I felt alone, who held my hand when I was afraid and needed to cry or pray, and who gave me hugs when I needed them. The nurses who understood my night fears. The bright sunroom for visiting and therapy. The freedom my grandsons enjoyed when visiting and were able to walk outside with me.
Everyone who came into my room introduced themselves and explained why they were there. The large board was always updated with my schedules, care plan, and names of my nurses, therapists, and doctors on shift. I was able to wear my own clothes, and they even took care of my laundry.
I am happy to recommend Glacial Ridge to anyone.
Personalized Therapy With Support That Matters
Alyce’s team provided personalized therapy up to twice daily per discipline, when appropriate, along with the encouragement she needed to feel safe and confident. Transferring to Glacial Ridge Hospital made it easier for loved ones to stay involved in her recovery, with 24/7 visiting that fit their schedules and hers.
A Team Approach to Recovery
“Healing isn’t just physical, it’s emotional, too,” said Discharge Planner Jamie Boelke. “Our team worked together to make sure Alyce felt supported every step of the way and strong enough to return home.”
Alyce’s experience reflects what many patients appreciate about the short-term rehab (swing bed) program in Glenwood—personalized therapy, skilled nursing care, and meaningful family involvement throughout recovery.
